Meet the Maker: Riccardo Arrambide, Durigutti Family Winemakers

INTERPRETERS OF THEIR ORIGIN

DB chats with Riccardo, export manager for Durigutti Family wines of Argentina!

Born in Mendoza, the heart of Argentina’s winegrowing region, brothers Héctor and Pablo Durigutti grew up sharing a passion for wine. Drawing from their experiences producing wines in regions outside of their home country, they embarked on their own winemaking project in 2002, establishing a small family winery nestled in Las Compuertas, located within the Luján de Cuyo region.

Passionate about highlighting the nuances of Argentina’s rich and diverse terroir, the Durigutti brothers craft a range of fruit-focused, fresh wines that celebrate distinct characteristics of different provinces across Argentina.

Under their Projectas Las Compuertas collection, they work with organically farmed vines planted 1,000m above sea level and primarily use indigenous grape varieties like Malbec, Cordisco, and Criolla. Through their Aguijón de Abeja range, they proudly showcase terroir beyond Mendoza, such as their Bonarda from the Catamarca in northwest Argentina.

Across all their ranges, the Durigutti Family has beautifully captured the essence of each region they work with, infusing each wine with a unique narrative of origin and terroir.
