Meet the Maker: Domaine de la Charbonnière
Passing the torch from father to daughters.
Domaine de la Charbonnière, located in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in the southern Rhône Valley of France, is a top quality domaine that has built a strong reputation of unwavering excellence and consistency.
Acquired in 1912 by Eugene Maret, the estate has remained in the hands of the Maret family over the past century. Continuing this rich legacy, Michel Maret seamlessly transitioned the property to his passionate and enthusiastic daughters, who now oversee the winery. Véronique manages the vineyards and cellar operations, while her sister Caroline handles the commercial and business aspects.
Together, the Maret sisters produce an impressive range of terroir-driven, classic red and white wines, revered for their complexity and balance. Most notably, their Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc is a stunning, elegant white blend that has captured our attention and praise amidst a region primarily celebrated for its red wines.
