Meet the Maker: Bernhard Rieder, WEINRIEDER

...and a damn good schnitzel.

Weingut Weinrieder, led by unconventional winemaker Friedrich “Fritz” Rieder and his son Lukas, is nestled in the heart of the Weinviertel. Their vineyards, which thrive in prime south and southwest locations on loess and clay soils, provides ideal conditions that allows them produce powerful, complex dry and sweet white wines with unrivalled concentration.

In the vineyard, the Rieders adapt their sustainable practices to the cycles of nature, prioritise the protection of beneficial organisms and greenery, and completely avoid herbicides. Their vinification processes centre on late harvests, gentle techniques, and extended maturation on fine lees - an approach that results in wines with delicate aromas and a robust structure.

Fuelled by a firm belief that wine can serve as the ultimate companion to food, Fritz and Lukas are dedicated to producing an range of enchanting food-friendly wines that embody both finesse and strength.
