We've long admired the wines of G.D. Vajra, and were excited to taste this unique bottling of Dolcetto that offers all the history and talent of this estate, without the Barolo price tag. (We stock a Barolo too if you're keen.)
Coste&Fossati is a reservoir of ancient Dolcetto biotypes, identified and rescued by Aldo Vaira between 1979 and 1985. Cuttings were grafted in the namesake estates. These plants, with a ‘red stalk’, create a limited production of the most intense and noble Dolcetto, with an amazing aging potential.
Deep purple... Did you know that the riff on the song 'Smoke on the Water' is the iconic bum bum bum bum from Beethoven's 5th symphony – backwards?! ...true story, but I digress. Super aromatic, vivid red and blue berries with lots of energy. Amazing example of Dolcetto. Drink while listening to Deep Purple.
