Cesanese di Affile is the darling grape of Lazio, in the commune of Rome. Here, the Formiconi brothers founded the cantina with the goal of continuing what their father, Nazzareno, had been making with passion and mastery for over 60 years: Cesanese di Affile. Until 2002, it was produced only for family and a few fortunate friends. Red fruits and violets gives way to spice and balsamic. Balanced but persistent tannins make for a long finish. Distinctly Italian. Pair with Saltimbocca alla romana. Boom.
