An expressive Ligurian red made from all the black grape varieties grown on the Il Torchio estate — including Vermentino Nero, Sangiovese, Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Each grape was vinified separately before being blended and then aged in oak. The result is a fresh, lively wine with notes of wild berries, Mediterranean herbs, and olive tapenade. Slightly earthy and beautifully rustic, with gentle tannic grip and plenty of acidity, it's a natural match at the table. – Jennifer Bui

We had a wonderful visit to this winery last year. Edoardo was training and pruning in the vineyard when we arrived. The vineyards are all farmed organically. All work is all done by hand and fermentations occur in tanks with indigenous yeasts. The wines of Il Torchio are fresh, lively and balanced. The texture is smooth, with a subtle salty twang from the mediterranean. Its delicious freshness balances the richness and makes it a very classy red wine. The terroir and local pine and scrub are captured in the glass and bound up with delicious red fruits, notes of wild herbs and that lovely savoury saltiness on the finish.
