Grange Saint-Sauveur, Le Martray - 2022
Grange Saint-Sauveur, Le Martray - 2022
The Le Martray is a joyful red blend, utilising partial carbonic maceration that let's the fruit shine – think tart berries picked fresh – with just the right amount of tannin and an underpinning of the Loire's famous chalk soils. Loves a bit of a chill. 60% Grolleau Noir, 30% Gamay, 10% Grolleau Gris
Alice and Antoine created Domaine “Grange Saint-Sauveur” in 2017. The name refers to the grange (barn), which is attached to the tiny chapel of Saint-Sauveur. They biodynamically farm 6.5 hectares of Grolleau Noir, Grolleau Gris, Cabernet Franc, Chenin, Pineau d’Aunis and Gamay, including vines planted 80 – 100 years ago and the most recent plantings in the 1980’s. Their old vines are goblet trained in parcels along the Loire River protecting them against frost. Antoine relies on his expertise in microbiology to create wines of character and identity via natural methods.
