Roussette de Montagnieu is made from Altesse, one of those mountain grapes that makes you want to abandon your responsibilities and move somewhere with raclette. This is alpine white wine at its best: pear, lemon oil, almond, white flowers, cool herbs and a stony, clean finish.

There’s a lovely waxy texture here, but it never gets heavy. Think Comté, fondue, trout, roast chicken, tartiflette, or a snack plate that somehow becomes dinner. Crisp, quietly complex and very, very charming. Love this wine big time.
