Puisseguin Saint-Emilion is a satellite AOC of the famous St. E – distinctive for it's soils, a plateau sculpted during the Oligocene and rich in Asteria limestone. This fossil rock, is over 30 million years old and boasts the ability to store water, on hand for when the vines need it most. Family owned and operated, Olivia and Didier Le Calvez's vineyard is planted to 60% Cabernet Franc, 35% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot and Carménère. The Vieilles Vignes is made from their oldest vines, some of them more than 70 years old. Velvety and concentrated – pair with bold meats, like game, aged beef, and I wouldn't say no to a juicy cheeseburger.
