Spring Fling Six Pack

Spring Fling Six Pack

Three outstanding whites which range from aromatic to savoury to textured, and three reds that take you from New York State to Austria to Slovakia. GET INVOLVED. PICNIC READY.

Two Paddocks Picnic Riesling

Sam Neill has made many excellent things - including Jurassic Park, and his Central Otago Two Paddock Riesling. Originally created for Sam and his friends, the "unpromising sheep paddock"-turned-vineyard proved to be something of a winner. As a result, the Two Paddocks wines can sometimes be tricky to get hold of, so bag 'em while you can!

Evelyn Accadia Verdicchio

Angelo Accadia makes elegant wines that reflect his beautiful, peaceful surroundings in Marche. Recently he handed over the running of the winery to his daughter, Evelyn, but not before making a wine named after her. Evelyn (the wine) is a 'baby' orange wine, with brief skin contact and ageing on the lees, resulting in very restrained level of funk, with deliciously fresh and savoury notes.

Vins de la Gabare Chenin Blanc

A former jazz pianist, Nicolas Réau’s Chenin Blanc is a perfect example of a natural wine done right. It's as true to the terroir and spirit of Loire valley as you can get. This oak aged juicy, lively, slightly floral expression of Chenin Blanc is a fun crowd-pleaser.

Osmote DeChaunac

DeChaunac by Osmote from New York State is made by Ben Riccardi who takes this lesser-known American-French hybrid grape and turns it into a delightfully bright, red fruit fiesta. Think Montmorency cherry tartness with cranberry crunch, and the signature Osmote ethereal lightness.

2020 Weingut Judith Beck, Burgenland Blaufränkisch (Red Wine)

I visited Judith at her winery a few years ago on a thoroughly miserable day. Her warm demeanor and beautifully textured wines made up for the cold and wet weather in spades. This Blaufränkisch, Austria's leading red grape, is an exceptionally drinkable natural wine from a very talented winemaker.

2019 Slobodne La Rose et Le Vampire (Rosé Wine)

Hell of a name for a wine, but it’s a hell of a wine. Slobodne is a young family-run winery based in Slovakia. For this Blaufränkisch Cabernet Sauvignon blend, both varieties were fermented separately in clay ‘Tinajas’ (Spanish amphoras). Unfined, unfiltered, minimal sulphite addition. Wild strawberries, raspberries, sweet spice. Complex, soft textured but crisp.
