Camiño Real is Guímaro’s more expressive, grown-up red. A wine that really shows what Ribeira Sacra can do. Mostly 40–60-year-old Mencía vines, blended with a few traditional Galician grapes like Garnacha, Caiño Tinto, Merenzao, and Sousón. All hand-harvested from the family’s steep terraced vineyards and spends about a year aging, half in large foudre and half in used smaller French barrels. The wine has a distinct silkiness and smoothness, with juicy red berries, delicate florals, and a touch of mineral earthiness. On the palate it’s fresh and juicy, striking the right balance between density and elegance. –Jennifer Bui
