Accadia - Marche, Italy

The Azienda Agricola Accadia was founded in 1983.

Angelo Accadia moved from the buzz of Milan to the quiet of Marche with his family in the 70s to follow his dual passions - wine and art.

Focusing on the primary grape of Marche, Verdicchio, Angelo makes elegant wines that express the beautiful, peaceful surroundings where he lives. Angelo from the outset has been present at every stage of the winemaking process; from the vineyard to the vats to the bottling line, ensuring the development of a rich and sustainable biodiverse environment.

The wines are the result of particular attention to the territory and the protection of indigenous biodiversity. The vineyards are farmed with non-invasive methods, all in order to produce wines of character, which can interpret the best of the territory. Altogether with the passion for wine, Angelo combines his love for art, organising art events since 1997 which saw the participation of painters, sculptors and photographers from all over Italy.

Angelo recently handed over running of the winery to his daughter Evelyn (pictured), but not before making a wine named after her. Evelyn (the wine) is a 'baby' orange wine, with brief skin contact (about 25 days) and very restrained level of funk, bringing in delicious fresh and savoury notes. Ageing on lees further adds complexity, giving a lovely depth and briochey flavours. Get ready for a wine with a bright, flinty mineral character, puncutated with white pepper and mandarin. Don't be scared of putting this wine through its paces with spicy food, pink meat (think pork) and curry.
