A rare 100% Alicante Bouschet from 75-yr old vines grown at the sea's edge near the town of Gruissan in the south of France. Tart blackberry pie filling and fresh bramble preserves with a touch of light cigar wrapper and stone on the finish. Drinks lighter than its amazing dark ruby colour. It's bright and balanced, with the typical wild touch of this varietal, which gives it a singular personality. This is a must-try.
Le Cartel is a collaborative project between grower Fredi Torres and Jean-Remi Mourad, who decided they could not pass up the opportunity to work with a few stunning old-vine plots in one of France's most beautiful stretches of coast. They are currently working with vines that range from 60 to over 100 years old.
