Described by the producer as a young, fun, intense wine, this Barbera explodes with dark cherry and juicy plum, with a generous dose of spicy herbaceousness and pronounced earthiness. If there ever was a fan-friendly expression of the Barbera grape, it's this one. The name of the wine comes from research on the various natural bird nests around the vineyards during the period of pruning in the growing season. After a study led by local bird enthusiasts, it was concluded that these nests are built by a migrating bird that stops by the vineyard during its migration. The technical name of the species is Muscicava Parva, but in Piedmontese dialect it is 'Lia Vì' - hence the name of the wine. - Nathan Lithgow
