Flagship sparkling from the personal estate of the late, great Stephen Spurrier who we lost to illness earlier this year. His impact on the world of wine is immeasurable. Responsible for the ‘Judgement of Paris’ blind tasting in 1976 that put California wines on the map, with Napa Valley taking top honours vs top French wines - across a panel of French judges no less! I highly recommend his biography, ‘A Life in Wine’.
Silver pale with lemony tints, it has white flowers and a spring-like freshness on the nose with citrus elements and a hint of dry honey. A great purity of fruit on the palate, showing a light creaminess at the start contrasting with a Granny Smith note on the finish.
