Nestled between Montsant and Priorat, Mas de l’Abundància’s history dates back to the 15th century. For centuries, the estate has been a haven for flourishing vines, olive trees, and vegetable gardens, earning its name from the land’s natural abundance.
In 2002, Jesús del Río Mateu established Mas de l’Abundància and began crafting expressive, small-production wines. Today, Ryan Vanderpol and Nikki Katsutani carry this vision forward, combining their passion for wine with a commitment to preserving Montsant’s traditions while bringing fresh energy and their vision to the estate.
With a sustainable focus, they organically farm regional varietals like Garnatxa, Carinyena, and Garnatxa Blanca, alongside rarer plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Winemaking at Mas de l’Abundància is an artisanal process led by Edouard Chevalier, whose roots in Burgundy and 10+ years of Old and New World experience shape wines that honour the estate’s history while embracing its future.
Together, Ryan, Nikki, and Edouard are crafting wines that celebrate the estate’s extraordinary terroir, artisanal traditions, and commitment to sustainability.
